Having struggled with 15 losses in a row, Liberty Union turned things around against Miller on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Falcons, sneaking past 3-2.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (106-104) Liberty Union actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-23, 15-13.
If Fredericktown wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Pleasant, they should've done a better job of containing Kamryn Roberts. The Spartans walked away with a 3-1 win over the Freddies on Thursday for which the team can thank Roberts, who had 29 digs and four assists. She has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 19 times she's played.
In the three sets Pleasant was on fire: they won each by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-11, 25-8, 25-14.
Liberty Union better focus on containing Siri Veladanda and Macy Hamper as the pair were huge in Pleasant's win. Veladanda had ten digs, while Hamper had 15 assists and six aces. That's the most digs Veladanda has posted over her last seven contests.
Pleasant was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fredericktown only served six.
Pleasant's record is now 21-1. As for Liberty Union, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-19.
Liberty Union took their win against Pleasant in their previous matchup back in October of 2020 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
