The Benjamin Franklin Chargers lost against the Coolidge Bears back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Benjamin Franklin in their matchups with the Bears: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lissa Adams, who scored ten points along with three steals. Brianna Martin was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks.
Coolidge found their leader in underclassman Alaysia White, who dropped a triple-double on 32 points, 13 rebounds, and 17 steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which White has scored at least a third of Coolidge's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Naylissa Charles, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Benjamin Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Coolidge, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benjamin Franklin will take on the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 8. As for Coolidge, they will be playing at home against the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Valley Christian is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
