The Clay-Chalkville Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Pinson Valley Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Clay-Chalkville was able to grind out a solid win over Hewitt-Trussville, taking the game 53-46.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pinson Valley had no problem doing just that on Monday. They breezed by the Blue Devils on the road to the tune of 69-35. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Pinson Valley had established a 26 point advantage.
Pinson Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Clyde Walters, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Walters hasn't dropped below eight assists for four straight games. Austin Coner was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Clay-Chalkville pushed their record up to 21-8 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Pinson Valley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-10.
Clay-Chalkville skirted past Pinson Valley 60-58 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Clay-Chalkville repeat their success, or does Pinson Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
