Willow Glen and Gilroy are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Rams will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Willow Glen's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Gilroy has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
Willow Glen fell victim to Hollister and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Haybalers.
Willow Glen saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Catalina Medina, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Gilroy won against Ann Sobrato on Wednesday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Mustangs came out on top against Santa Teresa by a score of 8-5.
Olive Burke made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Burke was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Gilroy let Lalita Solis and Averi Peters run wild. Solis went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Peters went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Peters has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariel Gustamantes, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Gilroy's victory bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Willow Glen, their loss dropped their record down to 18-6.
Willow Glen came out on top in a nail-biter against Gilroy in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
