Van Horn extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-10-2. They lost 17-2 to the Forsan Buffaloes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buffaloes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-1 on Friday.
Van Horn saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Fodge, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Fodge's first of the season.
As for Forsan, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.
On Forsan's side, Adlae Calvio and Cole Wyatt were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Calvio pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Wyatt tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Calvio posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. At bat, Calvio went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Wyatt went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Wyatt is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.
In other batting news, Forsan got a massive performance out of William Green, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Green has posted since March 3rd. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Nichols, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and five RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Van Horn will face off against rival Reagan County at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Forsan is set to challenge their familiar foe Wink at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
