The Robinson Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 12th straight defeat. They took a 61-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of South County. While losing is never fun, Robinson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Stallions are ranked 82nd).
Robinson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Scott Van antwerp, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Matteen Rahim, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.
Robinson's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-15. As for South County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.
Robinson will head out on the road to take on the Spartans at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. West Springfield has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 12. As for South County, they will be playing at home against the Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alexandria City knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully the Stallions like a good challenge.
