Basketball Game Preview: Olathe Pirates vs. Ridgway Demons

Olathe is 3-0 against Ridgway since December of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Olathe Pirates will face off against the Ridgway Demons at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Olathe's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches.

Olathe is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Roaring Fork on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Olathe lost 82-61 to Roaring Fork. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (57), the Pirates still had to take the loss.

Olathe might have lost, but man, Isaiah Gordon was a machine: he went 9 of 22 on his way to 28 points and three steals. Gordon's afternoon made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Gordon, who posted 16 points and six assists.

Even though they lost, Olathe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Ridgway's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 46-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dove Creek.

Ridgway's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-6. As for Olathe, they dropped their record down to 6-6 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Olathe was able to grind out a solid victory over Ridgway in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 59-48. Will Olathe repeat their success, or does Ridgway have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
