Winning is just a little bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 42% better than the opposition, a fact the Hunt Warriors proved on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 68-52 victory over Southern Wayne. The win made it back-to-back wins for Hunt.
Hunt found their leader in underclassman Austin Joyner, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Pittman, who scored 12 points.
Despite the loss, Southern Wayne saw an underclassman step up: Jayden Hardy dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Hardy has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Kairel Evans was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Hunt is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Southern Wayne, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hunt will take on South Johnston at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southern Wayne, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Smithfield-Selma at 7:30 p.m. Smithfield-Selma is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
