The Greencastle Tiger Cubs will head out on the road to challenge the Indian Creek Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Indian Creek took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Greencastle, who comes in off a win.
Greencastle lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Edgewood, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Tiger Cubs were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Mustangs on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Tiger Cubs, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Bryton Gregg and Nathan Sutherlin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gregg struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Sutherlin tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Gregg got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, while Sutherlin went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Gooch, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. He has become a key player for Greencastle: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Ashton Dayhuff also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Greencastle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edgewood only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Indian Creek suffered their biggest defeat since May 23, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 10-1 to Cascade. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Talan Steinway was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Greencastle is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Indian Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Greencastle has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Indian Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
