The Carrollwood Day Patriots will challenge the Northside Christian Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Carrollwood Day barely beat Clearwater Central Catholic the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Marauders on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.
Carrollwood Day got a great performance from Nick Riedel as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Riedel has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ashton Brown was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Earle, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Carrollwood Day was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clearwater Central Catholic only posted a batting average of .192.
Meanwhile, Northside Christian waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They never let the Chargers get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The Mustangs not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 18th.
Ronald Causby tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched.
At the plate, James Pitts was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Ashton Cox was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
Northside Christian pushed their record up to 16-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Carrollwood Day, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Carrollwood Day has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Northside Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
