The Mission Oak Hawks extended their postseason success on Saturday against the Rio Hondo Prep Kares. They took down the Kares 30-14. The win was nothing new for Mission Oak as they're now sitting on six straight.
Mission Oak had a senior duo take command as Kenny Jackson rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries and Daniel Gonzalez threw for 146 yards and a touchdown while completing 73.7% of his passes.
Several Kares players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nate Curtis, who picked up 162 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Curtis' longest reception was for an incredible 72 yards. Alex Mustain was another key contributor, throwing for 213 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes.
Mission Oak's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.2 points per game. As for Rio Hondo Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 13-2.
Mission Oak will square off against Palma at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Palma is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. Rio Hondo Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
