The King-Chavez Community Lions lost against the Mountain Empire Redhawks back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. King-Chavez Community took a serious blow against the Redhawks, falling 54-13. King-Chavez Community has not had much luck with the Redhawks recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Mountain Empire got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Corey Vann out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals. Vann is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Andrew Sepulveda, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
King-Chavez Community dropped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.4 points per game. As for Mountain Empire, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. King-Chavez Community will take on the Cavaliers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mountain Empire, they will head out on the road to face off against the Surgeons at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
