The Lewis County Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 78-63 to Mt. Pleasant. While losing is never fun, Lewis County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while the Tigers are ranked 174th).
Mt. Pleasant's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hayden Holt, who scored 26 points along with two steals. Holt has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Benderman, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds.
Lewis County dropped their record down to 5-13 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Mt. Pleasant, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Summertown the next time they take the court. Lewis County will head out to face the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Tigers will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
