The Riverside Beavers have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They secured a 57-52 W over Kenston on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Riverside also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Riverside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Drew Brown, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brady Mcknight, who scored 11 points.
Riverside's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Kenston, their defeat was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lakewood at 6:30 p.m. on January 13th. Lakewood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Riverside in Ohio (Lakewood is ranked 189th, while Riverside is ranked 511th). As for Kenston, they will head out on the road to face off against Chagrin Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chagrin Falls knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Kenston likes a good challenge.
