Bartlett Yancey has gone a perfect 3-0 against Clover Garden School recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers will host the Clover Garden School Grizzlies at 5:00 p.m. Bartlett Yancey has given up an average of 15 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Bartlett Yancey fell victim to Jordan-Matthews and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 15-0 to the Jets. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Buccaneers have suffered against the Jets since March 31, 2023.
Bartlett Yancey saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyndsey Smithers, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base. Savana Gibbs also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Clover Garden School never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Chatham Charter as Clover Garden School made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Grizzlies have won four games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Cadence Collins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Jersey Foster was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Clover Garden School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chatham Charter only posted a batting average of .238.
The victory made it two in a row for Clover Garden School and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bartlett Yancey, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-5.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bartlett Yancey has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474. However, it's not like Clover Garden School struggles in that department as they've averaged .564. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
