The Windsor Charter Academy Firebirds waltzed into their matchup Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Lotus School For Excellence by a score of 50-37. Given Windsor Charter Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Lotus School For Excellence is ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Windsor Charter Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brody Unruh led the charge by scoring 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Unruh has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Schams, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Several Meteors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kirubel Lemma, who scored 12 points. Nahom Sisay was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Windsor Charter Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Lotus School For Excellence, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
