The V.R. Eaton Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Bell Blue Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. V.R. Eaton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
V.R. Eaton took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 13-9 win over Keller. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the contest before.
The team relied heavily on Dylan Baughfman, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was TJ Hughley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Bell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They lost 11-0 to Keller.
Alina Vogt and Kenslee Turner did some serious damage despite the final result: Vogt went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Turner went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Vogt is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Sydney Hatcher also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
V.R. Eaton pushed their record up to 15-5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Bell, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16-1.
Bell's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: V.R. Eaton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .425. It's a different story for Bell, though, as they've only averaged .248. Will they be able to contain V.R. Eaton's hitters?
Everything went V.R. Eaton's way against Bell when the teams last played on March 3rd, as V.R. Eaton made off with a 13-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
