Brynnen Lambert was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Florence's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 3-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Shane Harvey was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Las Animas entered their tilt with Hoehne on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They never let the Farmers get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Braydon Ortiz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Las Animas got a massive performance out of Logan Servaes, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave Servaes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Damien Baca, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Las Animas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Las Animas pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Florence, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Florence has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .607. However, it's not like Las Animas struggles in that department as they've averaged .515. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
