After losing to the South Newton Rebels the last time they met, the Donovan Wildcats decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Donovan walked away with a 47-34 win over South Newton on Wednesday. The team accrued 35 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.
Leading Donovan to victory were Griffen Walters and Braden Klecan. Walters almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Klecan scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Miller, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Colton Marks and Matthew Armstrong certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Marks scored 15 points along with five rebounds, while Armstrong scored six points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Marks has scored all season.
Donovan has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-14 record this season. As for South Newton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Donovan will play host again and welcome Illinois Lutheran, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Illinois Lutheran is coming into the contest with nine straight defeats on the road, meaning Donovan will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for South Newton, they will be playing at home against Milford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
