Despite their loss, Desert Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jacob Schroeder, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. John Helton was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
St. Monica Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season. As for Desert Christian, they bumped their record down to 1-16 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for St. Monica Academy against Desert Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 84-54 win. With St. Monica Academy ahead 44-23 at the half, the game was all but over already.
