The Northwest Yeshiva Lions lost against the Sound Christian Lions back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Northwest Yeshiva took a serious blow against Sound Christian, falling 82-51. While losing is never fun, Northwest Yeshiva can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while Sound Christian is ranked 142nd).
Northwest Yeshiva's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Joe Benoliel, who scored 23 points, and Sam Chernicoff who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Benoliel scored a full 45.1% of Northwest Yeshiva's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Evan Kaufthal, who scored two points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Northwest Yeshiva bumped their record down to 2-5 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Sound Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Northwest Yeshiva will head out on the road to face off against Concordia Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Concordia Christian Academy and Northwest Yeshiva are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Sound Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Pope John Paul II at 7:00 p.m. Pope John Paul II is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
