Having just played yesterday, the Goldwater Bulldogs will jump right back in to play the Sierra Linda Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
On Thursday, Goldwater had to suffer through a rough 64-9 loss at the hands of Sahuaro. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Goldwater has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Sierra Linda's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Estrella Foothills 87-25. While losing is never fun, Sierra Linda can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Estrella Foothills is ranked ninth).
This is the second loss in a row for Goldwater and nudges their season record down to 2-6. As for Sierra Linda, they bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Goldwater took a serious blow against Sierra Linda when the teams last played back in December of 2014, falling 49-12. Can Goldwater avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
