Basketball Game Preview: Eisenhower Eagles vs. Westfield Mustangs

Eisenhower hasn't had much luck against Westfield recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eisenhower Eagles will challenge the Westfield Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Eisenhower is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 62-6 win over Aldine. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Eisenhower's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alyirah Lee led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine steals. What's more, Lee also racked up two assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rayonna Tates, who posted 17 points and three steals.

Eisenhower was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Westfield didn't have too much trouble with Benjamin Davis on Tuesday as they won 45-27. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while the Falcons are ranked 1106th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eisenhower's win bumped their record up to 2-15. As for Westfield, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Eisenhower ended up a good deal behind Westfield in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, losing 50-31. Can Eisenhower avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
