The East Rowan Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Carson Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
After soaring to 61 points the game before, East Rowan were a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They were dealt a 62-19 loss at the hands of Northwest Cabarrus. East Rowan was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-9.
Meanwhile, Carson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Northwest Cabarrus, falling 73-15. While losing is never fun, Carson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 532nd, while Northwest Cabarrus is ranked 98th).
Despite the defeat, Carson had strong showings from Rylee Hedrick, who scored six points along with two steals, and Brooklyn Mcbride, who scored no points. Hedrick has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.
East Rowan has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Carson, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-20.
Everything came up roses for East Rowan against Carson in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 47-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Rowan since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
