Cimarron has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Scott Beavers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.
Cimarron suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They fell just short of Macksville by a score of 53-50. While losing is never fun, Cimarron can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Macksville is ranked 104th).
Scott has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell just short of Southeast of Saline by a score of 49-47.
The losing side was boosted by Jackson Rumford, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Sage Stoecklein was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Cimarron has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Scott, they dropped their record down to 7-4 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Cimarron came up short against Scott when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 51-47. Can Cimarron avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
