It was a good run, but the St. Bonaventure Seraphs unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 58-48 to Higley. While losing is never fun, St. Bonaventure can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 370th in California, while Higley is ranked 42nd in Arizona).
Despite the loss, St. Bonaventure still got an impressive performance from Dylan Benner, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Benner scored a full 35.4% of St. Bonaventure's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Goodcase, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Higley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Donovan Dabney, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Noah Gloor was another key contributor, scoring 22 points.
St. Bonaventure's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Higley, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
St. Bonaventure won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Coral Glades at 10:30 a.m. on December 19th. Higley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lincoln at 10:30 a.m. on December 19th. Hopefully Lincoln focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Monday.
