The Bronaugh Wildcats were the 66-59 winner over the Montrose Blue Jays when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Bronaugh opened the new year with a less-than-successful 55-46 loss to Montrose. Bronaugh has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Colter Banes, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds. Banes has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Bowling, who scored 14 points.
Bronaugh's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Montrose, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season.
Bronaugh will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Jasper at 5:00 p.m. on January 8th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (Jasper is ranked 347th, while Bronaugh is ranked 342nd). Montrose will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wheatland at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Wheatland knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Montrose likes a good challenge.
