The Avella Eagles were the 61-60 winner over the Carlynton Cougars when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Avella ended up on the wrong side of a tough 55-35 walloping at the hands of Carlynton on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Avella has scored all season.
Avella lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bryce Wright, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Westley Burchianti, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Avella has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Carlynton, their victory bumped their record up to 5-13.
Avella will look to defend their home court on Friday against Union Area at 12:00 p.m. Union Area is coming into the match with four straight defeats on the road, meaning Avella will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Carlynton, they will challenge Cornell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
