Softball Recap: North Augusta Wins Going Away Against Aiken

North Augusta had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 8-7 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets as they made off with a 13-2 victory. Considering the Yellow Jackets have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddy Dickens looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, North Augusta got a massive performance out of Ayla Holmes, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Lyla Brummond was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

North Augusta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

As for Aiken, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.

On Aiken's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Weimer Kate, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

North Augusta didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-8 defeat against Strom Thurmond on the 15th. Hopefully Aiken paid attention to the Yellow Jackets' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
