Mattaniah Cook posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Thursday. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Woodside: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 3-9 otherwise.

Looking ahead, Cook and Woodside will head out to challenge Kecoughtan at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will enter the matchup having just beaten Denbigh, so the Wolverines will have to guard against a team looking to keep the ball rolling.
