Softball Recap: Central Lafourche Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Central Lafourche won against South Lafourche last Thursday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Trojans never let the Morgan City Tigers get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. Considering the Trojans have won 17 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Lanie Eschette made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. She also scored a run, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Himel, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. Those stolen bases were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kristen Hebert, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Central Lafourche always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Central Lafourche's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Morgan City, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-18.

Central Lafourche will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
