The Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels lost against the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Moshannon Valley's rough 64-39 loss to Claysburg-Kimmel might stick with them for a while. Moshannon Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Claysburg-Kimmel's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Haney, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Haney has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Elias Ritchey was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Moshannon Valley dropped their record down to 1-15 with that loss, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.
Moshannon Valley will head out on the road to square off against West Branch at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. West Branch presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Moshannon Valley in Pennsylvania (West Branch is ranked 207th, while Moshannon Valley is ranked 730th). As for Claysburg-Kimmel, they will be playing at home against Rockwood at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Rockwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Friday.
