Fletcher is 1-7 against Sandalwood since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Fletcher Senators will head out on the road to face off against the Sandalwood Saints at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Sandalwood took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Fletcher, who comes in off a win.
Even though Fletcher has not done well against St. Johns Country Day recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Fletcher took down St. Johns Country Day 50-32. The win made it back-to-back wins for Fletcher.
Fletcher's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mattie Gilliam, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Meanwhile, Sandalwood's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their tenth straight loss. They suffered a tough 56-31 loss at the hands of Beachside. While losing is never fun, Sandalwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 412th, while Beachside is ranked 48th).
Fletcher is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Sandalwood, their loss was their 12th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-16.
Fletcher was dealt a bruising 60-29 loss at the hands of Sandalwood in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Fletcher avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
