Baseball Recap: Gavin Franzel Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Bad Axe

Cass City had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Bad Axe on Monday. The Red Hawks never let the Hatchets get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Red Hawks, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Gavin Franzel was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ryker Wallace, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Cass City hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive games.

Cass City's victory bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Bad Axe, their loss was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-14.

Coming up, Cass City will take on Freeland at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bad Axe, they are taking a road trip to take on Caro at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last six games the Tigers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
