Football Recap: Rubidoux Drops Highest Score of Season Against Jurupa Valley

Rubidoux hadn't done well against Jurupa Valley recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Falcons blew past the Jaguars 32-11. The Falcons' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Rubidoux was led to victory by Joshua Green and Jesus Vasquez. Green rushed for 123 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries, while Vasquez gained 119 total yards and a touchdown. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 74 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Rubidoux was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 233 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

Rubidoux's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Jurupa Valley's QB won't forget Bryan Castaneda-Sevilla anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Castaneda-Sevilla is becoming a predictor of Rubidoux's success: when he posts at least one sack the team is 2-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't).

Rubidoux's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Jurupa Valley, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rubidoux will venture away from home to square off against Patriot at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Jurupa Valley, they are taking a road trip to take on La Sierra at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Jaguars will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.14 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
