Wellsboro is 8-2 against Towanda since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Hornets will venture away from home to take on the Black Knights at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Wellsboro is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Coudersport 18-3 on Saturday. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Gabe Sprouse made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Wellsboro: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-7 otherwise.

Rylee Sluyter was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Wil Shrawder also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Towanda's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Wellsboro, their record is now 5-7.
Wellsboro beat Towanda 9-5 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
