Basketball Recap: Mcgregor Beats Cook County for Their Third Straight Win

McGregor had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They strolled past the Cook County Vikings with points to spare, taking the game 75-61. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mercuries also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Cook County still got an impressive performance from Denali Blackwell, who went 9 for 20 on his way to 24 points and five rebounds. The matchup was Blackwell's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Macoy Fairbanks was another key player, putting up nine points.

McGregor's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Cook County, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-7.

McGregor will take on Two Harbors at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. McGregor knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Two Harbors likes a good challenge. As for Cook County, they will challenge South Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
