Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Jeannette

Jeannette came out on top against Leechburg on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run third inning. The Jayhawks were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Blue Devils. The result was nothing new for the Jayhawks, who have now won six matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Peyton Pitzer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Defelice, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Jeannette always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leechburg only posted an OBP of .308.

Jeannette's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Leechburg, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jeannette will venture away from home to take on Ellis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ellis has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.7 runs per game on average), something Jeannette will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Leechburg, they will head out on the road to face off against Monessen at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
