On Friday, February 27th, the students at
Eagan High School were covered in blue and green as they showed off their pride for the Winter Pep Fest. MaxPreps and the Minnesota Army National Guard were on site for the 4th Annual MaxPreps Soccer Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard to honor the Eagan girls' soccer team.
The Wildcats, who beat Eden Prairie 1-0 for their first state title, were ranked No. 8 in the country by MaxPreps. Out of over 10,000 girl's soccer teams, the Eagan High School girls' soccer team showed their strength by not only winning their state title and their conference title, but also exceeding all expectations nationally. The girls, and the coach, had a fantastic 2014 season with 15 shutouts and a final record of 24-0-1.
As the rally began, the stands were packed as the school honored students, who excelled athletically and academically. After the excitement and a round of entertaining games, the lights dimmed. A spotlight turned to the Eagan Girls' Soccer Team who then walked single file towards their award. They lined up as MaxPreps introduced Staff Sergeant Scott Accurso from the Minnesota Army National Guard to present the Army National Guard national ranking trophy.
SSG Accurso congratulated the team as he pointed out that teamwork and camaraderie are all traits that are important in the Army National Guard. He got the crowd going as the school spirit continued to surge. He then presented the Army National Guard national ranking trophy to Coach Bulut Ozturk and the team. Coach Ozturk graciously accepted the award, posed for pictures and then the team continued their celebration as fellow peers and proud parents cheered for their accomplishment.
Congratulations to the Eagan girls' soccer team on their state title and national ranking!
