The Beacon Blue Devils will take on Lab Museum United at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
On Wednesday, Beacon made easy work of School of the Future and carried off a 13-3 win. Considering the Blue Devils have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Elin Turco made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Turco was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Annika Ortolano, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five stolen bases, and six RBI. Abby Valdez was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Beacon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lab Museum United). Everything went their way against Norman Thomas on Monday as they made off with a 23-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Lab Museum United.
Jane Rosenthal was incredible, firing off two home runs and eight RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Bach, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
The win got Lab Museum United back to even at 3-3. As for Beacon, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Beacon got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March against Lab Museum United by a conclusive 16-2 score. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lab Museum United turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
