Make it nine blowout wins for the Peach County Trojans this season. Everything went their way against Northside on Friday as Peach County made off with a 56-32 win. Given Peach County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Eagles are ranked 276th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alexia Heyward continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Atiana Gilcrist, who scored 11 points along with six steals.
Peach County pushed their record up to 9-6 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Northside, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peach County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Knights at 3:00 p.m. on January 27th. Upson-Lee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully the Trojans likes a good challenge. As for Northside, they will head out on the road to square off against the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
