Walter Johnson has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Wootton Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Walter Johnson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Friday.
Walter Johnson struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Barons had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Walter Johnson ended up on the wrong side of a tough 57-35 walloping at the hands of the Barons.
Walter Johnson's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Norah Youssef, who scored 15 points, and Kendall Alexander who scored eight points along with four steals. Alexander hasn't dropped below three steals for six straight games.
Even though Wootton has not done well against the Bulldogs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Wootton snuck past the Bulldogs with a 40-34 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Wootton.
Walter Johnson's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Wootton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season.
Walter Johnson barely slipped by the Patriots when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 49-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Walter Johnson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
