The Herndon Hornets had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They beat George C. Marshall by the very same score they won with last week: 31-28. This was payback for Herndon, who suffered a 22-21 loss the last time these two teams met.
Several Statesmen players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sam Morales, who rushed for 134 yards.
Herndon's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for George C. Marshall, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Yorktown the next time they take the field. George C. Marshall will host Yorktown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Herndon will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
