Montgomery Academy faced Saraland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Eagles fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 3-2. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Saraland was led to victory by Taniyah Smith and Bryleigh Goff. Smith had 11 digs and two aces, while Goff had 14 digs and nine assists. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in assists (28).

Montgomery Academy's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 40-7. As for Saraland, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 34-7.
