The Northfield Nighthawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 26 points or more this season. They blew past Westminster 94-64 at home. The score was close at the half, but Northfield pulled away in the second half with 53 points.
Northfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daquan Slayton led the charge by scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gyasi Hawthorne, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds.
The win (which was Northfield's third in a row) raised their record to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.0 points per game. As for Westminster, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
Northfield will be playing at home against Denver West at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Westminster won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Northglenn at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Hopefully Northglenn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
