Monocacy Valley - Antietam recap Oct. 3, 2012
South Hagerstown extended the longest winning streak in Monocacy Valley - Antietam this week by beating Poolesville, 43-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
South Hagerstown suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 43-0 loss to South Hagerstown. Toby Peer's team had been ranked 25th, but fell to 29 following the defeat.
North Hagerstown's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nick Karlen threw for 126 and one touchdown and Tre Anderson had 77 yards receiving. On the ground Kyle Hewlett chipped in 171 yards. Reggie Moody helped North Hagerstown's passing attack out by catching one ball for 37 yards.
North Hagerstown's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hubs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Karlen has thrown for 518 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Anderson has 14 catches for 221 yards. Isaiah Keyes leads the league in rushing with 431 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Hubs take on Williamsport. North Hagerstown's offense has scored 191 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Wildcats have allowed only 211 on the year.
A big matchup in Monocacy Valley - Antietam this week will be when the Rebels take on Smithsburg. As it stands, South Hagerstown is in first, while the Leopards are in fifth.
The Rebels took down the Falcons 43-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
