The Beaufort Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Darlington Falcons at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Beaufort will be strutting in after a win while Darlington will be coming in after a loss.
Beaufort will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Bluffton on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Bobcats 15-5. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Adalyn Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 20 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Arianna Smith was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Caylin Adkins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Beaufort hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 6-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Darlington and Gray Collegiate Academy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Darlington had to settle for second. They fell 10-5 to the War Eagles. The Falcons' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Keekee Bacote made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Easton Boaz also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Beaufort's record now sits at 12-10. As for Darlington, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.
Beaufort suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Darlington when the teams last played on Tuesday. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
