Jordan hasn't had much luck against Millikan recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Jordan has given up an average of 13.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Jordan is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 21 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Long Beach Poly on Tuesday. They lost 12-2 to the Jackrabbits.
Meanwhile, Millikan waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Bruins. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Riley McAndrew was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Aisley Smith was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addy Everrett, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Millikan hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.
Millikan's win bumped their record up to 23-8. As for Jordan, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jordan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .392. However, it's not like Millikan struggles in that department as they've averaged .356. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
