The biggest upset of the week belonged to Frederick, who took down 64th ranked Erie, 21-7. Ryan Miller ran for 140 yards and caught one passes for seven yards in the win.
The Warriors were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in 3A Northern. Earlier in the week, Frederick defeated the Tigers 21-7.
Holy Family's dynamic duo of David Sommers and Chuck Hollwedel proved tough for Thomas Jefferson to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Sommers threw for 229 yards and Hollwedel had 61 yards receiving. Tyler Hsin helped Holy Family's passing attack out by catching two balls for 57 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Sommers and Jarred Deherrera the Tigers have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Sommers leads the league in passing with 976 yards, while Deherrera has rushed for 818 yards this season. Centaurus's Brody Jaskul leads the league in receiving yards with 247 on 15 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Holy Family takes on Erie. At the moment, Mike Gabriel's team is in first, while Larry Gartrell's team is in third.
There should be lots of points scored when the Tigers and the Tigers face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Holy Family comes in having scored 192 this season, while Erie has scored 175. The Tigers scored 17 points last week as they defeated the Spartans.
Holy Family and Thomas Jefferson played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Holy Family eventually emerging with a 17-14 victory. Sommers ran for 52 yards in the win.
