Hancock is a perfect 3-0 against Calumet since April of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bulldogs will face off against the Copper Kings at 4:00 p.m. The last three games Hancock has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Friday, Hancock needed a bit of extra time to put away Kingsford. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Flivvers, sneaking past 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since May 6, 2024.
Meanwhile, Calumet came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Jets get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. The contest marked the Copper Kings' most dominant win of the season.
Lena Myhren was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloe Coppo, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Kaydence Christopherson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Calumet pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Hancock, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Hancock took their victory against Calumet in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
